A simple, healthy & satisfying snack.

Feeling like you’ve been being pulled in too many directions lately? Same. Between trying to manage a full-time job, part time side gig, wedding plans, and life in general, simplicity has been key when it comes to nutrition. That’s why I am SO excited to share today’s tasty treat. I am often asked for simple, but healthy snack ideas. Eating the same foods on repeat can get boring. So instead of sticking with the same foods on repeat, I’d like to add some flare to your snacking routine with these delicious raspberry chocolate bites.

Let me share a bit of the backstory. Last week I went to Trader Joe’s for one thing. That’s it. I walked out with a cart-full. There’s something magical about TJ aisles that make it impossible to leave without at least 10 items [am I right??]. While walking down the refrigerated aisle, I came across a container of chocolate hummus.

Now I know what you may be thinking……. chocolate hummus, no thanks. I was skeptical at first too, but my curiosity got the best of me. My first taste test left me intrigued. I’m not usually a hummus fan but this blew all expectations clear out of the water. If anything, I would describe it as a nuttier tasting Nutella but with a slightly grittier texture. Let’s compare the nutrition stats between the two…….

Per 2 Tbsp. Serving

Nutella:

  • Calories: 200 kcals

  • Fat: 11 grams

  • Carbs: 22 grams

  • Protein: 3 grams

Chocolate Hummus:

  • Calories: 50 kcals

  • Fat: 1.5 grams

  • Carbs: 9 grams

  • Protein: 2 grams

So what do you do with chocolate hummus? [Other than eat it with a spoon, of course]:

  • Serve with pita chips or pretzels

  • Add as a side to fresh cut fruit

  • Try it with banana chips
