Made with only four main ingredients [+ seasonings] and ready in under 30 minutes, this fun twist on a childhood favorite has become a go to in our household.
Since I was given an air fryer as a bridal shower gift, I’ve been obsessed! I’m all about finding healthier ways to make my favorite foods and an air fryer has made that much easier! I love that I can enjoy the ‘crisp’ fried texture of foods without having to actually fry them. If you don’t own one, I highly recommend the investment!

Eating healthy isn’t about cutting out the foods we love. But, if we can find a similar, healthier, and just as satisfying recipe, it makes eating healthier that much easier!
Gluten Free & Air Fried Chicken Nuggets
Ingredients
- 1 large chicken breast
- 1 egg
- Splash of milk (or dairy free milk alternative)
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- ¼ cup almond flour
- ¼ cup walnut ‘flour’**
Instructions
- Cut the chicken into ½- ¾ inch pieces.
- In a small bowl, add the egg, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Whisk until well combined.
- Meanwhile, combine the almond and **walnut flours.
- Spray the air fryer basket with oil.
- Dip each nugget in the egg and then dredge in the flour mixture.
- Evenly layer the nuggets in the air fryer. Spray them once again with oil.
- Air fry at 400 ºF for 10 – 12 minutes. Halfway through, give the basket a quick shake. Nuggets should be golden brown and crispy when they’re done!
Notes:
**To make the walnut ‘flour’, pulse walnuts in a blender until a flour like consistency is reached.
If doubling this recipe, nuggets need to be air fried in 2 separate batches to ensure a crisp outer coating. Try to avoid stacking the nuggets on top of each other.
If reheating, air fry for 2 minutes at 400 ºF to crisp back up.
