Back To School Meal Prep Tips

After a long summer of sun, outdoor fun, and laid-back meals, getting back on a regular schedule can be tough!

From preparing breakfast, to packing lunches + snacks, and figuring out what’s for dinner, there’s a lot to think about. Here are my best back-to-school tips to help make your family's transition from summer, to school, a whole lot easier!

Plan your menu in advance

Set aside 30 minutes each weekend to plan out your menu and create a grocery shopping list. Having a plan in place will make a big difference throughout the week. A little planning goes a long way!

Create a recipe binder

When you find a recipe that you enjoy, and are comfortable making, print it out and add it into a recipe binder. As your recipe book grows, meal planning and prep will become second nature!

Invest in quality food storage containers

If you’re planning on doing any type of meal prep, quality storage containers are a must! Here’s what I use - click here!

Set up breakfast before bed

Double up on dinner portions

Don’t have time to prep lunches? Double up on dinner portions and enjoy leftovers for lunch the next day!

Create a snack draw

Keeping pre-portioned snacks on hand not only helps to encourage healthy snacking habits, but also saves time & money!

Batch cook + freeze

Know you’re going to have a busy month? Get in the habit of doubling recipes - enjoy one meal fresh and freeze the other for a busy night!
